Representatives of Croatian courts Mr Damir Kos, Supreme Court Justice, Ms Goranka Barać-Ručević, Supreme Court Justice, Mr Igor Periša, Supreme Court Justice; Ms Morana Briški, Senior Court Advisor-Specialist at the Supreme Court, Ms Mirta Matić; High Commercial Court Judge, Ms Vlatka Fresl Tomašević, Zagreb County Court Judge and Ms Dubravka Penić Lukač, Zagreb County Court Judge visited on 11th September 2024 the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
The study visit was organised following the judgement of the European Court of Justice dated 11th July 2024 in Joined Cases Hann-Invest et al, C-554/21. et al. relating to Registration Service work. Therefore, the main aim of the study visit was to get acquainted with the work of the ECHR Jurisconsult Service which, among other tasks, ensures the consistency of the ECHR case-law.
The Croatian delegation had the possibility to exchange experience with Mr Marko Bošnjak, ECHR President as well as with Mr Davor Derenčinović, Justice elected on behalf of the Republic of Croatia. The delegation has been greeted by Ms Anna Austin, Jurisconsult and her Deputy Ms Aysegul Uzun Marinović, while a detailed presentation on the organisation and work of the Jurisconsult Service was made by Mr Krešimir Kamber, Senior Legal Advisor in Jurisconsult Service.
Additionally, the delegation has had the opportunity to discuss ECHR case processing since application receipt until decision-making and the application of the Convention in legal matters of importance to the Republic of Croatia with members of the Croatian Legal Department at ECHR, namely with Mr Zvonimir Mataga, Head, Ms Aida Grgić Boulais, Senior Legal Advisor, Ms Franka Viljac Herceg, Advisor, Ms Josipa Kovačević, Junior Advisor, Ms Valentina Miljak, Junior Advisor as well as with Mr Željko Gusić, Split Municipal Court Judge, temporarily assigned to work at ECHR.
